Anwar and Narendra Modi interact ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri
Putrajaya: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim interacted with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi late this evening ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
“I appreciate his speech to the family and the people of Malaysia in conjunction with the upcoming Eidulfitri Mubarak celebrations. Our discussions focused on the latest developments in deteriorating West Asia, not to mention in the month of Ramadan, which is supposed to be a field of peace and tranquillity,” Anwar said.
Posting a photograph of his telephone conversation with Modi on his Facebook page Anwar said, “I share Malaysia’s firm and consistent stand in condemning Israel’s bombing and genocide against US-backed Iran. We agreed to call for an immediate cessation of fighting and to push for peaceful voices, diplomacy and healthy dialogue”.
“We also agree that Malaysia and India must join hands in strengthening the collective voice on all international stages, including at the United Nations (UN) and BRICS. As a result, this solid cooperation becomes increasingly urgent amid the bleak global economic atmosphere, including its impact on food security. Insya-Allah, Malaysia and India will continue to strengthen their collective commitment for the sake of global peace” Anwar further noted.
