Najib to undergo heart procedure in Serdang Hospital next week!

Kuala Lumpur: Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak is scheduled to undergo a heart procedure next week at the Serdang Hospital, according to an announcement confirmed by his special secretary, Ahmad Lutfi Azhar.

Najib, the former Member of Parliament for Pekan, is currently serving a prison sentence following his conviction in the SRC International corruption case. The 72-year-old former leader is also facing multiple other ongoing graft trials.

The announcement comes amidst recent, intensified legal debates and controversies surrounding a purported royal order by the former Yang di-Pertuan Agong (Sultan of Pahang) that would allow Najib to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest. A faction of the public has previously voiced strong support for placing Najib under house arrest. There are also differing views that everyone is equal before the law and that special preference should not be accorded to a person just because he was a former Prime Minister.

Political observers suggest that news of Najib’s upcoming heart surgery is likely to amplify a wave of public sympathy for the jailed former prime minister as his legal battles continue. However, no details are available at this time regarding the extent of Najib’s purported heart procedure.
