Arun Dorasamy charged in Penang court – Deputy Minister Kula appears alongside
To everyone’s surprise, Deputy Minister in the PM’s department (Law and Institutional Reform) appeared alongside Arun Dorasamy, following him to the courtroom.
Later, Kulasegaran defended his appearance in a statement, saying he stopped by at the Jawi court to speak to Arun about “trusting the legal process”. Kula said he had known Arun since the time when Arun represented Indira Gandhi as a lawyer in her legal battles over the custody of her children. “I wish to clarify that I only met Arun briefly in the vicinity of the court complex before leaving. I was not present in the courtroom when the charges were read and proceedings held,” Kula added.
Kula also said that all parties are equal before the law and that their due process must be respected.

Meanwhile, Arun was represented by lawyers Mr T. Gunaseelan, Mr Balwant Singh Purba and Mr Eng Yuh Pei (Dickson). Arun was later released on bail of RM5,000. The court fixed 22nd June 2026 as the next mention date.
Later, Arun posted on his Facebook page, thanking the Magistrate, DPP, Inspector Amir (Investigation officer), and other officials for their cooperation and assistance.
“I will face charges against me with grace, law and dignity. I must thank the officers for their professionalism & effort to ensure my safety” Arun stated on his facebook posting.
