KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri S.A. Vigneswaran, President of the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC), has expressed profound sorrow following the passing of former MCA President and veteran statesman Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik, who died on Saturday (April 4) morning at the age of 82.
In a heartfelt tribute issued shortly after the news broke, Vigneswaran described the late Ling as a “statesman of great conviction” whose life was defined by an unwavering commitment to public duty and national service.
Vigneswaran highlighted Ling’s extensive contributions to Malaysia’s political and economic landscape, particularly during his tenure as the Minister of Transport. “His passing is a profound loss to the nation,” Vigneswaran stated. “His contributions to the country’s political landscape and national development will remain deeply appreciated and remembered.”

Extending his deepest sympathies to the bereaved family, Vigneswaran offered prayers for their fortitude during this period of mourning.
“In this moment of grief, my thoughts and prayers are with his family. May they be granted strength, comfort, and peace during this difficult time,” he added.
