Malaysian Tamil writers to attend ‘Living Tamil LitFest’ in New York
To introduce modern Tamil literature into the global spotlight, a literary program titled āLiving Tamil LitFestā will be held on April 3rd and 4th in New York, United States. This initiative is organised by Jeyamohan, a renowned Tamil literary writer from Tamil Nadu known worldwide. The program was organised in collaboration with the Vishnupuram Literary Organisation of America. Film actor Kamal Haasan and film director Mani Ratnam have also been appointed as ambassadors for the event.
More than 50 prominent Tamil writers from around the world, including India, the United States, Canada, Switzerland, Malaysia, and Singapore, will participate in the program. Discussions will be held with modern Tamil writers such as Su. Venugopal, Yuvan Chandrasekar, poet Perunthevi and translators like Kalyanaraman and Suchitra.

From Malaysia, modern Tamil writers M. Navin and Aravin Kumar have been invited to take part in the program. The event will take place at the seminar hall of the New York Academy of Medicine. A group of young Tamil Americans, passionate about Tamil literature and arts have taken the responsibility to undertake the complete organisation of the event.
The main objective of this program is to spread awareness of modern Tamil literature among readers of other languages and to create a healthy and continuous space for literary discussion.
To achieve this goal, the works of the invited Tamil writers will be translated into English, published, and distributed as a special collection.
Writers and translators from the United States and Canada, including Chad Post, Esther Allen, Damion Searls and translator Thomas Hitoshi Pruiksma, have also been invited to participate in forums together with modern Tamil writers.
The organisers have urged Tamil enthusiasts to come together in support of this intellectual initiative that aims to bring modern Tamil literature to the global audience.
