“HRD Corp’s ‘VETRI’ initiative expected to empower Indian community” – Ramanan
Kuala Lumpur: An initiative by HRD Corp (Human Resource Development Corporation) under the Human Resources Ministry to uplift the Indian workforce has received widespread accolades from the Indian community. The Tamil media gave extensive coverage to the event, which was held on the 25th of April 2026 at the Kandiah Hall, Vivekananda SJKT, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, and was presided over by Human Resources Minister Dato’ Sri R. Ramanan.
The VETRI initiative comes at a time when there is widespread disappointment within the Indian community that the MADANI government has not provided enough economic and educational opportunities to the Indian community.
“I have inaugurated the Vetri MADANI Carnival organised by HRD Corp. Congratulations and well done to the entire HRD Corp team, especially Chief Executive Dato’ Shamir Aziz, for their commitment and hard work in making this initiative a success”, Ramanan commented.
“VETRI conveys the meaning of victory and success, serving as a symbol of hope. So, VETRI MADANI is not just a program but an endeavour to empower the Indian community by providing access to skills and job opportunities and uplifting living standards. With an allocation of RM10 million, the programme targets 2,000 participants from the Malaysian Indian community nationwide. The focus is clear: building a competitive workforce through comprehensive training that encompasses skills improvement, career mobility, and future readiness,” Ramanan said.
The training is offered to two major groups: those who are in the job search and those in the process of job hunting.
Among the focus areas are Artificial Intelligence (AI), Automation & Robotics, and Semiconductors, in parallel with high-value industry needs.
“I also had an opportunity with the top management of the ministry to visit representatives from agencies under KESUMA to provide exposure to government initiatives to Indian people. This is not just an opportunity; this is a pathway to success. Grab this opportunity. Don’t hold on. VETRI MADANI is there for you” Ramanan further noted on his facebook posting.
Also present at the event were ADUN Batu Uban, YB Kumaresan Arumugam; Chief Secretary of KESUMA, Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof; Deputy General Secretary (Political & International), KESUMA, Dr Hj. Mohd Shaharin bin Umar; and Tan Sri Datuk Dr Ampikaipakan Kandiah.
