Wong Kah Woh, Deputy Education Minister, visits Tun Aminah Tamil School; Allocates RM250,000 in funding

JOHOR BAHRU: Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh paid an official visit on the 26th of June 2026 to SJK(T) Taman Tun Aminah, the Tamil vernacular school with the highest student enrollment in the country, marking a historic milestone for the institution.

The Deputy Minister was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Johor State Education Department Assistant Director of Preschool and Primary Education, Ravichandran Ramachandran; Johor Bahru District Assistant Officer of Preschool and Primary Education, Ting Chee Tuan; School Board of Governors Chairman, Sundararaju Marimuthu; Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) Vice Chairman, Datuk Sri Dinesh Maruthamiah; and Selangor State Executive Councillor, Papparaidu Veraman, among other local officials and community leaders.

Major financial aid package announced

During the working visit, Deputy Minister Wong Kah Woh announced an allocation of RM200,000 dedicated to general school maintenance and infrastructure upkeep. Furthermore, he revealed that an additional RM50,000 would be granted from the Education Minister’s special fund to expedite urgent emergency repairs on the school premises, bringing the total funding package to RM250,000.

In addition to the financial support, the Deputy Minister urged the school administration, the Board of Governors, and the Parent-Teacher Association to work hand in hand with the State Education Department to expedite plans to establish new preschool classes at the institution.

A Boost for the School Community

The official visit has been hailed as a deeply significant event for the school community, given its status as the largest Tamil school by population nationwide.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the institution, Headmistress Mrs Rajeswari Raju stated that the newly announced funding and academic initiatives would inject fresh momentum into the school’s ongoing development, ensuring a brighter future and greater academic success for its students.
