Narendra Modi heaps praise on Malaysian Indians

Madurai: On February 7th and 8th, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an official visit to Malaysia. During that visit, on February 7th, a grand reception event was held in Mines Convention Hall in Serdang, organised by the Indian High Commission and several other Malaysian Indian organisations.

On 1st March, Narendra Modi attended a political rally in Madurai, campaigning for the AIADMK-BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the forthcoming Tamil Nadu state assembly elections.

In his speech, Modi heaped praises on the Malaysian Indian community for giving him such a grand reception. He also said that he had initiated the Thiruvalluvar Chair at the University of Malaya. Modi also said plans are underway to establish a Thiruvalluvar Centre in Malaysia, which he is initiating.

Speaking at the Madurai meeting, Narendra Modi also expressed his joy and appreciation for the immense support provided by the Malaysian Indians, especially the Malaysian Tamils, during his recent visit to Malaysia.
