DMK-Congress alliance to be finalised today – thanks to P.Chidambaram

Chennai: A last-minute intervention by Congress stalwart and Rajya Sabha MP P.Chidambaram has finally broken the impasse on the DMK-Congress coalition, which became the talking point in Tamil Nadu politics in the last few weeks.

Tamil Nadu media reported that an agreement on a seat-sharing arrangement is expected to be signed in Chennai today at the DMK headquarters, popularly known as Anna Arivalayam.

Although there is no official announcement yet, it is widely believed that Congress leadership accepted 28 state assembly constituencies and one Rajya Sabha parliament seat. The seat-sharing agreement is expected to be signed in the presence of Chidambaram and M.K.Stalin.
If the coalition agreement between DMK and Congress is amicably signed as expected, it could signal a four-corner fight in the 234 constituencies in the forthcoming Tamil Nadu state assembly elections.
