Muhammad Zamri Vinoth Charged at Kuala Lumpur Court

Kuala Lumpur  — Independent preacher Muhammad Zamri Vinoth Kalimuthu appeared before the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday morning to face formal charges filed against him.

He was charged under **Section 505(b) of the Penal Code** for allegedly making statements likely to cause public disorder during a gathering held last February.

Earlier, police denied claims that he had fled to Thailand, confirming that he had extended full cooperation throughout the legal process. His defence lawyer, Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdullah, clarified that the overseas trip in question was merely a brief business matter and carried no intent to evade authorities.

The case forms part of a broader crackdown by authorities on individuals who make provocative statements involving religious and racial issues — a matter the government has been increasingly vigilant about amid ongoing sensitivities surrounding inter-community relations in the country.
