MAICCI lauds KUSKOP intiatives – pledges strong support
Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysia Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MAICCI) in a press statement released today extended its sincere appreciation to the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP), Steven Sim Chee Keong (pic), for the announcement of the Entrepreneur Capital and Indian Economic Stimulus Package (MUDRA), with a total allocation exceeding RM220 million dedicated to the Indian community in Malaysia.

MAICCI President, Dato’ Seri N. Gobalakrishnan, described this as a strategic and historic step in strengthening the ecosystem of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as well as cooperatives owned by Indian entrepreneurs across the country.
“The increase in allocation from about RM160 million in 2025 to over RM220 million in 2026 clearly reflects the MADANI Government’s commitment to ensuring that Indian entrepreneurs remain competitive and are not left behind in the nation’s economic development,” he said.
He also welcomed the strong progress recorded to date, with RM33.48 million approved as at 31 March 2026, benefiting 1,805 Indian entrepreneurs nationwide, underscoring the community’s significant potential when given the right opportunities and support.
“For MAICCI, MUDRA is not merely a financing package, but a recognition that Indian entrepreneurs are key drivers of the national economy. The true success of this initiative will depend on efficient, transparent and on-the-ground implementation that reaches women, youth and micro-entrepreneurs at the grassroots,” he added.
In this regard, MAICCI is committed to:
1. Working closely with KUSKOP and its agencies, including TEKUN Nasional, Bank Rakyat, SME Bank, Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia and the Malaysia Cooperative Commission, to accelerate delivery of financing under MUDRA;
2. Helping to expand outreach and awareness among Indian entrepreneurs so that they can fully leverage schemes such as SPUMI, BRIEF-i, Vanigham and PENN;
3. Serving as a continuous feedback channel between the Indian business community and the Government to further refine policies and implementation over time. MAICCI also encourages more Indian entrepreneurs – including women and youth – to come forward to seize the opportunities offered under MUDRA to strengthen their businesses, enhance capacity, and contribute to national economic growth in line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI.
