Vijay’s divorce case: Will it affect TVK votes?
Chennai: Another explosive issue has suddenly surfaced as a stumbling block to Vijay’s political ambitions. When the Tamil Nadu state assembly elections are around the corner, at this critical juncture, his wife Sangeetha has filed a divorce petition against him.
Even if it were an amicable divorce, it might have been acceptable to the public at large. However, Sangeetha has reportedly accused Vijay of being in a relationship with another actress outside their marriage and has cited this as the reason for seeking divorce. Rumours had already been circulating that Vijay was living separately from his wife and sharing a home with another actress. Those speculations now appear to have been confirmed as true.
Considering the 27 years of married life Sangeetha shared with Vijay, and taking into account his current political situation, Sangeetha might have chosen to wait another two or three months. According to reports, she apparently signed the divorce petition in December 2025, but questions are raised as to why she is filing it now.
Political theories are also spun around the divorce petition.
In matters of love and marriage, couples often make sacrifices for one another, but when it comes to divorce, it has increasingly become common for them to seek revenge and attempt to damage each other’s reputations.
Will this affect Vijay’s women’s vote bank expected for his party, TVK? Will it bring changes in the minds of voters? Only the election results will reveal that. We will also have to see how Vijay handles this situation. He is expected to sideline this issue and not talk about it as usual.
