Rahul Gandhi arrested in New Delhi
NEW DELHI: In the wake of mounting demonstrations organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), Congress Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav have been detained by the Delhi Police.
The detentions occurred amid escalating tension in the national capital as opposition leaders mobilised to protest outside the Prime Minister’s residence. Authorities stepped in to clear the area after key opposition figures and party supporters gathered to stage demonstrations, leading to widespread police action across central Delhi.
The political unrest stems from ongoing CJP-led demonstrations at Jantar Mantar and near Parliament, where clashes between security personnel and demonstrators resulted in numerous injuries. Following the police crackdown, leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) visited hospitals where injured students and protesters were admitted, offering words of comfort and checking on their recovery.
Meanwhile, demonstrations continue to expand across New Delhi, with opposition parties demanding accountability and intensifying their protests against the government.
Rahul Gandhi posted on his X-Twitter page as follows:
“We have marched to PM Modi’s house to demand answers from him for the brutalities against young students yesterday. The Government doesn’t want to take any accountability, nor does it want to have a debate on it in Parliament. PM and HM must resign for destroying the future of India’s youth”.
