Dato’ VS Mohan, newly appointed Special Advisor for Indian Affairs to Negeri MB, vows to work for the advancement of the Indian community
SEREMBAN: Former Jeram Padang State Assemblyman Dato’ VS Mohan was officially appointed as the Special Advisor for Indian Affairs to the Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar on September 1, assuming administrative responsibilities to address community concerns within the state government framework.
Following the appointment, Mohan posted on his Facebook, pledging to champion the welfare and socio-economic advancement of the Indian community across Negeri Sembilan, while working broadly toward the state’s overall development. He affirmed that his primary focus will be bringing unresolved issues and key challenges faced by Indian residents directly to the attention of Menteri Besar Dato’ Haji Ismail bin Lasim.
Mohan expressed his gratitude to Menteri Besar Ismail bin Lasim for the appointment, as well as to MIC President Tan Sri S.A. Vigneswaran and Deputy President Datuk Seri M. Saravanan for recommending his candidature.
A seasoned political figure in Negeri Sembilan, Mohan served as the State Assemblyman for Jeram Padang and a member of the State Executive Council (EXCO) from 2008 to 2013. Throughout his career, spanning the tenures of successive MIC national presidents beginning with Tun S. Samy Vellu, he has held key leadership positions within the state party structure.
At the Negeri Sembilan state assembly election held on 1 August 2026, MIC contested two seats in Negeri Sembilan, namely Seremban Jaya and Sri Tanjong, but was unable to secure victory, resulting in no direct MIC representation within the State Executive Council, although Barisan Nasional managed to form the state government.
