Lingeshwaran thanks all parties for diffusing Bukit Mertajam temple issue

Bukit Mertajam: Senator Lingheshwaran Arunasalam thanked all the parties concerned who have played a role in maintaining the peace and calm, and for diffusing the situation in Bukit Mertajam.

“Let us all continue to maintain harmony, mutual respect between races and religions, and ensure Penang remains a peaceful and united state.

Thank you, and let’s keep the harmony of our state together,” Lingeshwaran posted on his Facebook page. Other dignitaries who attended the event yesterday included Bagan MP Lim Guang Eng, State EXCO member SundarajuĀ  and Jelutong MP RSN Rayer who is also the chairman of the Penang Hindu Endowment Board. Special officer for Indian affairs at the PM’s department Shanmugam Mookan was also present at the event.

Yesterday, (7 March 2026) Lingeshwaran also sponsored lunch for 1,000 devotees at Kuil Sri Dewa Maruthuvar Jada Muniswarar, Bukit Mertajam. “I am grateful that the programme went smoothly and that many devotees joined us for the prayers. Together, we offered prayers for unity among all races, harmony in our society, and continued peace and prosperity for our beloved motherland, Malaysia. We also kept in our prayers the safety and well-being of our brothers and sisters in the Middle East during these difficult times, and for peace to prevail so that all wars may come to an end,” Lingeshwaran said.

He also thanked everyone who attended and supported the meaningful gathering at the Kuil Sri Dewa Maruthuvar Jada Muniswarar, Bukit Mertajam.
