Johor to vote on July 11, Negeri Sembilan on 1 August!

PUTRAJAYA: The Election Commission (EC) has officially announced the key dates for the highly anticipated Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections, scheduling the polling days a few weeks apart.

Johor voters will head to the polls on July 11, while Negeri Sembilan will hold its state election shortly after, on August 1.

Johor Election Timeline

EC chairperson Ramlan Harun detailed the critical deadlines for the southern state during a press conference in Putrajaya. The official campaign window for Johor will formally open following nomination day, with early voting taking place just days before the main polls.

• Nomination Day: June 27

• Early Voting: July 7

• Polling Day: July 11

• Postal Ballot Registration: Open from June 5 until June 19 or 24, depending on the application category.

Negeri Sembilan Election Timeline

Following the conclusion of the Johor polls, attention will shift entirely to Negeri Sembilan. The EC has outlined a separate timeline for the state, with candidate registration scheduled for mid-July.

• Nomination Day: July 18

• Early Voting: July 28

• Polling Day: August 1

• Postal Ballot Registration: Open starting today until July 10 or 15, depending on the category.

The staggered election dates are expected to allow political coalitions and machinery to systematically redeploy their resources across both states as they vie for legislative control.
